The Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) is a professional society for fire protection engineering established in 1950 and incorporated as an independent organization in 1971. It is the professional society representing those practicing the field of fire protection engineering.

SFPE Qatar Chapter History

It was November 2015 when a group of OFW professionals employed in various industries serving as Safety Engineers / Fire Safety Engineer / Industrial, Civil and Mechanical Engineers meet in a fire protection seminars conducted by the world safety organization and come up with an idea of establishing an organization dedicated to Fire Protection and concluded that SFPE will be the organization to be represented in the State of Qatar.

A long preparation has commenced and the Qatar Chapter constitution and by-laws was prepared, finalized and submitted with a line-up of the proposed board directors and officers:

  • Cherrie May Desabille – Secretary
  • Roderick Valdez – Treasurer
  • Von Ryan Gajo – Board Director

  • Dante Bernales – Board Director
  • Ramil Gravador – Board Director
  • Cris Billones – Board Director
  • Pepito Nuque – Board Director

It was August 31, 2016 when the endorsement from SFPE Headquarters through Julie Gordon SFPE Membership and Chapter Relations Manager officially declared and confirmed that Qatar Chapter is one of the international chapters of SFPE with a purpose of engineering a fire safe world.

And the rest is history…

  • Obtained the Embassy Recognition from the Philippine Embassy in Qatar
  • 2020 Recipient of World Safety Organization- Concerned Organization Award
  • 2019 Recipient of SFPE Silver Award for Chapter Excellence (ACE)
  • 2018 Recipient of SFPE Gold Award for Chapter Excellence (ACE)
